History of the ‘Springerle’ Cookie and How to make it

History: These has been and still are traditional Christmas Cookies in Bavaria/Germany and Austria as well. SPRINGERLE are white, anise-flavored cookies, made from a simple egg-flour-sugar-dough, usually rectangular or round in shape and have a picture or design stamped on top. The images are imprinted with specially carved SPRINGERLE-Rolling-Pins or flat molds. It has been a while..

Still in shock… about the terror attack in Paris and the bomb threat in Germany. My thoughts and prayers go out to all families who lost loved ones, injured and for all fighting this craziness. Ad on to 11.11 :)

ALMOST FORGOT… … th 5th season also had another tradition, my grandma always did follow up with pride. She made some homemade soup, most of the time potato soup and ‘Berliner’. Also called “Fasnachts-Kuechle’ or ‘Faschings-Krapfen’. So to say a Doughnut with a marmelade filling, most of the time strawberry…. Ohhhh how i miss that!

Today 11.11.2015

A VERY IMPORTANT DAY IN GERMANY 🙂 Today, 11.11 at 11:11 am, everywhere in Germany the 5th Season started. Its called FASCHING or CARNIVAL. Every year people are getting excited to start celebrating this time, crazy fun, costumes, loud music etc… I do miss it actually. The Season goes on till Ash Wednesday, first day of Lent (Christianity). The 5th Season will be burned off in a big bonfire everywhere…
